Tahiti Mana wins Overall Award at Heiva i Kaua'i 2015

Heiva i Kaua'i was a great experience for Tahiti Mana Dance Troupe, not only for being able to enjoy the natural beauty of Kaua'i, performing for an enthusiastic crowd, and dancers/musicians sharing a moving performance on stage together; but to top off the entire experience, Tahiti Mana won 1st in Group Ote'a, Group Aparima, and Drumming; out of 4 groups. All the wins led to the highest honor of 'Overall' title.

The story was a continuation of the Hono'ura legend, picking up where we left off at Heiva i Honolulu 2014. This legend has become very close to our hearts as we have explored it deeply in order to understand the meaning and significance of this ancient legend. It tells of a child born deformed who grew up to be the protector of his village.
Mauruuru Kaua'i for having us!

Tahiti Mana at Heiva Tu'aro 2015

For the first time in the history of the Heiva i Tahiti, outsiders were invited to participate in the island country's Traditional Sports Competition (Heiva Tu'aro Ma'ohi). The Heiva i Tahiti is famous for it's stunning dance presentations, but the Heiva Tu'aro is a also a big part of the month long cultural celebration.

Tahiti invited athletes to represent Hawaii, New Zealand, Rapa Nui, and Rarotonga. 5 Tane from Tahiti Mana represented Hawaii and trained under Rimatara sport champion, Tetaria. It was a great honor and culturally rich experience to be a part of this historic event. More photos from this exciting event can be found on our Facebook Page.Mauruuru Tahiti!
